Professors and Faculty Leadership from UIN Siber Syekh Nurjati Cirebon Attend AICIS+ 2025: Strengthening Global Academic Collaboration

UIN Siber Cirebon (Depok) — A number of professors, deans, and vice-deans from UIN Siber Syekh Nurjati Cirebon attended the Annual International Conference on Islam, Science, and Society (AICIS+) 2025, organized by the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia from October 29–31, 2025, at the Indonesian International Islamic University (UIII) in Depok.

This year’s AICIS+ marked the 24th edition of the event, featuring the overarching theme:

“Islam, Ecotheology, and Technological Transformation: Multidisciplinary Innovations for an Equitable and Sustainable Future.”

The theme underscores the importance of multidisciplinary innovation in addressing global challenges by integrating Islamic values, science, technology, and social aspects to foster an equitable and sustainable future.

A Multidisciplinary Scholarly Forum for the Islamic World

AICIS+ 2025 presented seven key sub-themes reflecting the breadth of the fields under discussion, including:

  • Science and Technological Transformation
  • Ecotheology and Environmental Sustainability
  • Islamic Law, Social Equality, and Eco-Feminism
  • Sustainable Economic System and Social Welfare
  • Decolonizing Islamic Studies
  • Peace Building and Humanitarian Crisis
  • Public Health in Muslim Societies

More than 200 presenters from 31 countries participated by sharing the latest research aligned with these sub-themes. Several prominent international scholars also attended as plenary speakers, including Prof. Farish A. Noor (Malaysia), Prof. Aburrazak Hesamifar (Iran), Prof. Shahram Akbarzadeh (Australia), Prof. Moh. Quaddus (Australia), Prof. Sulfikar Amir (Singapore), and Prof. Stephane Lacroix (France).

The conference was officially opened by the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Prof. Dr. Phil. H. Kamarudin Amin, M.A., and closed by the Minister of Religious Affairs, Prof. Dr. Nasaruddin Umar, M.A., who had just returned from a state visit to Italy. UIN Siber Syekh Nurjati Cirebon Delegation Strengthens Global Academic Networks

UIN Siber Syekh Nurjati Cirebon dispatched an academic delegation led by Prof. Dr. H. Dedi Djubaedi, M.Ag., serving as both the University Senate Chair and the head of the delegation. Also in attendance were the following professors:

Prof. H. Adang Djumhur S., Prof. Hj. Ety Nurhayati, Prof. H. Wasman, Prof. Hj. Hurriyah, Prof. Kartimi, Prof. Yayat Suryatna, Prof. Abdul Aziz, Prof. H. Didin Nurul Rosidin, and Prof. Widodo.

Meanwhile, faculty leadership was represented by Dr. H. Didi Sukardi, SH., MH. (Dean of FEBI), Dr. H. Saifuddin, M.Ag. (Dean of FITK), and Dr. H. Anwar Sanusi, M.Ag. (Dean of FUA), alongside several Vice Deans and other academic officials.

Building Collaboration and Campus Internationalization

In his statement, Prof. Dr. H. Dedi Djubaedi, M.Ag., emphasized that UIN Siber Syekh Nurjati Cirebon's participation in international forums like AICIS+ represents a strategic move to expand cross-border academic networks and collaborations.

"This event serves as a starting point to enhance the effectiveness of academic communication and to broaden international relations and collaborations, aligning with UIN Siber Syekh Nurjati Cirebon's vision of becoming an excellent, world-class university," he stated.

Echoing this sentiment, Dr. H. Anwar Sanusi, M.Ag., noted that AICIS+ 2025 opens up significant opportunities to strengthen synergy among Islamic higher education institutions on a global scale. “With the participation of over 31 countries, this forum serves as a strategic opportunity for UIN Siber Syekh Nurjati Cirebon to build research networks, foster academic collaboration, and expand its scholarly contributions on the international stage,” he stated.
