UIN Siber Syekh Nurjati Cirebon Finalizes Preparations for the 25th AICIS in 2026, Ready to Host an International Islamic Conference with Global Impact

UIN Siber Cirebon – UIN Siber Syekh Nurjati Cirebon has begun finalizing preparations to host the 25th Annual International Conference on Islamic Studies (AICIS) in 2026. This move follows the decision by the Director General of Islamic Education at the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, designating UIN Siber Syekh Nurjati Cirebon as the host for this prestigious international scholarly conference within the Islamic Religious Higher Education (PTKI) sector.

As part of these preparations, UIN Siber Syekh Nurjati Cirebon held a coordination meeting regarding the AICIS 2026 event with the Sub-directorate of Research and Community Service—under the Directorate of Islamic Religious Higher Education (Diktis) of the Ministry of Religious Affairs—on Tuesday, July 21, 2026. The meeting was conducted in a hybrid format (combining in-person and online attendance) and was led directly by the Rector of UIN Siber Syekh Nurjati Cirebon, Prof. Dr. H. Aan Jaelani, M.Ag.

Participants in the coordination meeting included Vice Rectors, Faculty Deans, Chairs and Secretaries of the Quality Assurance Institute (LPM) and the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM), the Heads of the Industry Research and Development Center, the Community Service and SDGs Center, and the Publication and Ranking Center. Also in attendance were the Information and Documentation Management Officer (PPID) team, various Heads of Divisions and Sub-divisions, the Planning and Finance team, the Rectorate’s BLU Commitment-Making Official (PPK), and other relevant stakeholders.

AICIS: A Momentum to Strengthen Indonesia's Academic Reputation

In his remarks, Prof. Dr. H. Aan Jaelani, M.Ag., emphasized the strategic importance of this coordination meeting in aligning perspectives and formulating concrete steps toward hosting a high-quality, internationally competitive 25th AICIS.

He noted that the trust placed in UIN Siber Syekh Nurjati Cirebon by the Ministry of Religious Affairs represents both an honor and a significant responsibility that requires thorough preparation. “AICIS is not merely an annual academic agenda; it serves as a showcase for the quality of Indonesian Islamic higher education on the international stage. Therefore, all stakeholders at UIN Siber Syekh Nurjati Cirebon must collaborate to ensure the event is conducted professionally and innovatively, delivering tangible impacts on the advancement of knowledge and the strengthening of global academic networks,” stated Prof. Aan.

Five Key Focus Areas for AICIS 2026 Preparation

During the coordination meeting, the Rector emphasized five key focus areas prioritized for the preparation of AICIS 2026.

First, ensuring UIN Siber Syekh Nurjati Cirebon’s readiness as the host—covering human resources, facilities and infrastructure, participant services, and the management of an international-standard conference.

Second, establishing the event's substance and theme to ensure relevance to contemporary developments in Islamic scholarship and the ability to address global challenges through innovative academic approaches.

Third, strengthening the digitalization system across all operational processes—from participant registration, scholarly article management, and conference execution to the publication of outcomes. As a digital-based campus, UIN Siber Syekh Nurjati Cirebon is committed to providing modern, effective, and integrated services.

Fourth, ensuring that AICIS delivers a sustainable academic impact. Conference outcomes should extend beyond mere discussion forums to yield scholarly articles published in reputable journals and international proceedings, as well as other academic outputs that bolster Indonesia’s contribution to the advancement of Islamic studies.

Fifth, leveraging UIN Siber Syekh Nurjati Cirebon’s existing international partnerships with various overseas universities and institutions, encouraging their active involvement as partners, speakers, researchers, and participants in AICIS 2026.

Collaboration as the Key to Success

Prof. Aan emphasized that the success of AICIS depends not only on the core organizing committee but also requires synergy among all work units within the university. According to him, every faculty, institute, study center, and support unit plays a strategic role in ensuring the success of the international conference.

“AICIS represents a collective milestone. Its successful execution will bolster the reputation of UIN Siber Syekh Nurjati Cirebon as a digital-based Islamic higher education institution capable of serving as a hub for the advancement of knowledge, research, and international collaboration. Therefore, we must work with a spirit of unity, professionalism, and innovation,” he emphasized.

Strengthening UIN Siber Cirebon’s Position on the International Stage

Hosting the 25th AICIS marks a significant milestone for UIN Siber Syekh Nurjati Cirebon in expanding its international academic network while simultaneously enhancing the quality of its research and scholarly publications.

Through this conference, the university hopes to foster innovative ideas, cross-border research collaborations, and scholarly publications that make tangible contributions to the advancement of Islamic studies and the resolution of global issues.
